    Alumni NewsLieutenant Commander J. Wesley "Wes" House, USN, is a 2006 graduate of USD. He is currently a student at the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College.

    A native of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Wes enlisted in the Navy in 1988. He received his commission in 1996 at Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, under the Seaman to Admiral Program.

    After attending Surface Warfare Officers School-Division Officer Course in Newport, Rhode Island, he was assigned to USS Russell (DDG 59) and made an Arabian Gulf deployment in support of the United Nations sanctions against Iraq. He reported to Surface Warfare Officers School-Department Head Course in Newport, Rhode Island, and completed deployments to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf.

    After graduating from USD in 2006 with a BA in History, Wes reported to the staff of Carrier Strike Group Eleven. During his staff tour he deployed on USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

    His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, and various campaign and unit awards.

    He is married with two children.
