Introduction

World War II was a horrific war fought not only in Europe or in Asia.  Although actual battles may not have been fought in the streets of many countries such as France Germany and China, many other countries such as Chile and Brazil experienced a completely different type of war.  It was not a war of tanks, grenades, death and destruction; it was much more destructive and personal.  It was a war of political ideologies.  The Second World War can be looked at as a war of capitalism, fascism, and communism.  Although the last of the fighting ended in 1945 many countries today are still fighting over these very issues of capitalism, fascism and communism.  One of those countries that continue to struggle with these concepts is Argentina.  For many Argentines the war did not end in 1945 nor did it end with the so called "Dirty War" of the 70's and 80's where some 10,000 citizens were murdered and tortured due to their political beliefs, nor did it end with its battle with Great Britain over Las Malvinas islands (Falkland Islands).  The Second World War wrought changes in Argentina that are still felt today.  While spending many years living and traveling within Argentina I came to realize how important the Second World War is to the history of this beautiful country.  Modern political problems within Argentina cannot be understood or discussed without knowledge of what occurred socially, politically, and historically during the years of the early twentieth century.    It is my hope this project will allow us to understand the present and the future by analyzing the past.   Que Dios les bendiga!
