Germany's conquest of Norway during World War Two served many purposes for the Germans.  From Norway, Germany could attack Great Britain by both sea and air, making use of the many Norwegian bases on the North Sea.  Germany was also interseted in the iron ore that could be transported out of Sweden via Narvik, Norway.  Germany had just defeated Poland and its soldiers were riled up and ready for their next task.  Fear of British invation into Norway, and Allied control of Norwegian bases also spurred Hitler's egerness to capture Norway.  The  German occupation of Norway later proved to be key in other battles such as the conquest of Iceland and the Battle of Britian.
