RESULTS OF TITLE IX

Improvement in college athletics

Collegiate athletics have vastly improved from the implementation of Title IX.  Today women receive 1/3 athletic scholarship money and are on the constant increase.  In 1995, women comprised 37 percent of college student athletes, compared to the 15 percent in 1972.  Due to the increased spending in women’s athletics, the public interest has increased as well.  Many Olympic women athletes thank Title IX for their chance at higher education and a future in sports.
