Changes in Progressive Education

The Progressive Era ushered in many changes to public school education. The most marked change was that in curriculum- what subjects were taught and how they were taught. The position of the teacher in the student’s learning also changed. In addition, the Progressive Era saw the creation of many experimental schools, such as Dewey’s Laboratory School or Gary Schools. They are representative of the schools that sprang up all over the United States at this time.
