ESSEX CLASS CARRIERS

Since World War II, the United States Navy has focused on the usage of aircraft carriers assembled in a carrier taskforce to deter international violence. A deployed carrier taskforce represents an investment of over $17 billion dollars and enough firepower to rank it as the fifth strongest military power in the world. Naval doctrine, however, did not always focus upon the usage of carriers as a formidable offensive weapon. The emergence of the innovative Essex Class Carriers in World War II marked the beginning of a new genre of military warfare. Assembled in a multi-carrier taskforce, the Essex Class Carriers were of paramount importance in defeating the Japanese during World War II.

Summary

The implementation of the Essex Class Carriers in carrier taskforces during World War II was of paramount importance in winning the war over the Pacific. The swift potnent power of the Essex Class Carriers proved effective in delivering major blows to the enemy as well warting off counterattacks. Having proven effective as an offensive as well and a defensive weapon, the carrier assembled in the carrier taskforce helped in penetrating and defeating Japanese empire. The sinking of the Rising Sum Empire gave way to the rise of the carrier taskforce on the high seas.
