Wells Fargo merged with First Interstate Bancorp. This merger was made possible only by the rescinding of a banking regulation, which prohibited interstate branch banking. The banking regulation was first introduced during the Great Depression.
Nov. 1998
Wells Fargo merged with Norwest Corporation, extending business across the west and into the Midwest.		click for large image
