CONCLUSION
Charles Lindbergh was a man who captivated a nation and
gained and equal number of friends and enemies throughout his life. He was
deemed both an America hero and traitor. His efforts to stop American
intervention into WWII were some of the most publicized and most effective. The
knowledge that he had gained from living in Europe
and his expertise in aviation made him extremely knowledgeable and adamant in
his beliefs. He was unfairly deemed a Nazi sympathizer and a racist. These
misconceptions about why he did not support the war followed him for the rest
of his life. By examining the real reasons why Lindbergh was against the war.
You find a man that was neither a pacifist nor a racist. He did not see the
purpose of a war that you could not fight adequately. Above all he believed
that they Unites States had a responsibility to itself and its citizens before
anyone else. When the time came to defend our nation he was as ready as
anyone.
