Richard Collins

Raid on Munster

Bibliography

After trying to track down information through my family tree, I have come up with a little information about Richard Collins. Information on his father, Jacob, was also disclosed in the search.

Jacob Roland Collins was the professor of physics at Cornell University. A matter of fact, he did some work at Los Alamos with the Manhattan Project.

Jacob Collins married Emma Keturah Ford in 1915 and to them was born a son, Richard. Richard was an only child and the only pictures that could be found of him are shown below. Obviously, they are of him at a young age.

Richard would graduate from Cornell University in 1941 and very soon after joined the AAF.

He would fly in 11 missions, before the fateful day of December 22, 1943. His missions include flights to Bremen, Solingen, Kiel, Munster, Bordoeur, all of which were flown between October and December '43.

The focus of the page is on Richard Collins role in the Raid on Munster on December 22, 1943.
