S 35
First produced in 1935, the S 35 was considered the best tank in the world. It had a smooth modern appearance, a powerful 47mm cannon, and thick 55mm of armor. All this at 20 tons with good speed and excellent range. The S 35 had an electric turret drive, very modern for its day. As with other French tanks, the main drawback was that the S 35 was a two-man tank. The tank commander had to load, aim, and fire the gun, leaving him little time to command his tank or any others.
