Thurgood Marshall

(1908-1993)

 

Thurgood Marshall has been well-known for his works in the Civil Rights Movement in America and also known as the first black Supreme Court Justice. His primary work involved serving as a director of the NAACP, in which his landmark was made with the case of Brown VS The Board of Education. The decision of the case declared segregation of public schools illegal, and created a break-through for African-Americans.
Along with serving on the NAACP board, Marshall promoted affirmative action for women and minorities. Serving on the Supreme Court for nearly 24 years, Thurgood Marshall has left many marks in the building of America.
