Andy Kipling's History

Links Regarding my Personal History:

I was born in Seattle, Washington on February 24, 1981 at Virginia Mason Hospital.  My father is Thomas Andrew Kipling and my mother is Sara Rogers Dawson.  I was the second of three children of my parents.  Two years earlier on April 9, 1979 my older sister, Kelly was born.  Three years after I was born, my younger sister, Marian Bailey Kipling was born, October 24, 1984.  We all lived happily together in Seattle.  First we lived on 36th street with my nanny, Mary.  We later moved to Broadmoor in Madison Park.

It was in Broadmoor that tragedy befell our family when my younger sister fell out of a first story window and down into an outside concrete stairwell that led to our basement.  She was in pre-school at the time; I believe it was 1988.  Bailey fractured here skull and spent over a week in a coma.  I remember it to this day when the fire department showed at our door to take Bailey away in an ambulance.

After this tragic event, which Bailey survived through and came out with two friends, Dale and Greg?, our family decided to move to Sun Valley, Idaho.  It was December 1988 and we celebrated Christmas in Idaho.  While we were there I remember that we just kind of decided not to go back.  I was enrolled at the Community School, despite my protests that I wanted to go to Hemmingway Elementary, on January 4, 1989.  Nevertheless, I spent all of my years, from second grade until 9th grade at the Community School.

In April of 1995, my parents got divorced.  My mother remarried to a terrific man named Steve Dawson.  I was, however, dismayed at the time, and all the more so when my mom decided to move to Des Moines, Iowa.  So my sisters and I went with my mom to Iowa.  I stayed in Iowa until my junior year when my mom and younger sister moved back to Sun Valley with me.  I was re-enrolled at the Community School and reunited with my friends.  After my junior year my mom moved back to Iowa with Bailey and I continued on in Sun Valley.  I lived my senior year with one of my best friends, Graham Snyder.  We had some good times.

In 1999 I graduated from the Community School and enrolled at the University of San Diego.  At my new school I met some really great friends and I became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and later, my junior year I founded the University of San Diego Ice Hockey team.  Currently I am still at USD and I am enjoying it immensely.
